Our Story
Bostic Bay Ice Cabins started as a simple idea: give people a place to experience the raw beauty of northern Minnesota the way it's meant to be experienced — on the ice, under the stars, with nothing between them and the wilderness but walls of frozen water.
We're not a resort. We're not a hotel chain. We're a small family operation on the shores of Lake of the Woods, offering something you won't find anywhere else in the state: authentic ice cabins that are both rugged and comfortable, remote but reachable, and deeply, genuinely memorable.
The Cabins
Each ice cabin is hand-built each winter on the frozen surface of Bostic Bay. They're simple by design — warm, safe, and positioned where the view does all the work.
Our smallest cabin, built for one or two. Intimate, cozy, and positioned right at the water's edge where eagles nest in summer and wolves sometimes cross the ice in winter.
Our most popular cabin. Spacious enough for a family or a pair of friends who want room to spread out, with a loft sleeping area and panoramic ice views.
Our largest cabin, built for groups who want to lean into the wilderness experience. Separate sleeping quarters, a generous common area, and the best stargazing on the bay.
The Experience
World-class fishing on Lake of the Woods — we'll set you up with gear and a spot that locals have used for decades.
Baudette sits in one of the best aurora corridors in the lower 48. From late January through March, the sky puts on a show.
No cell service. No crowds. Just you, the ice, and the kind of silence that resets your nervous system.
Every cabin has a cast-iron stove. Bring your own provisions or ask us about our weekend meal-prep service.
Location
We're located in Baudette, Minnesota — the northernmost community in the state, sitting on the southern shore of Lake of the Woods. Canada is a ten-minute drive north. The wilderness is everywhere else.
Get in Touch
Ice cabins are built each December when the ice is thick enough to hold them. Reservations open in late November and fill quickly — we recommend booking early for the holiday season and peak aurora months.
